Handmade Wooden Crosses Crafted for the Glory of God
All that I have is From and For Him
What began as a high school woodworking class eventually became a passion, a dream, and now a full-time pursuit.
After years away from woodworking, I felt a strong desire to return to the craft and make a cross.
One cross became two. Then many more.
Today, every cross at From & For is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand in Australia.
How It All Started…
From the Workshop
A handcrafted layered wooden necklace cross featuring a contrasting internal timber core, created through precision cutting and reassembly. Suspended on an adjustable Korean silk cord, each piece is uniquely formed from natural hardwood combinations.
The Onesimus the Freed Strung Cross is a handcrafted Coptic Orthodox necklace cross made using a layered, two-tone construction that reflects both contrast and unity within a single form.
Each cross is built from two carefully selected hardwoods, with a central cross of contrasting timber inlaid into the outer body before being reassembled into its final form. The result is a single piece that visibly carries two distinct woods, brought together through precise cutting, alignment, and hand assembly.
The process begins with a solid timber base, which is cut both horizontally and vertically to form the internal structure. A second timber—chosen for its colour and contrast—is then shaped into a central cross and fitted into the core of the design. Once aligned, the piece is carefully rejoined, sanded, and refined so the transition between woods is clean, intentional, and seamless.
Each cross is then individually shaped with straight ends, maintaining the clean geometric shape of the Cubit the Large design while introducing a deeper visual layering through contrast. The straight form keeps attention on the meeting point between the two timbers, where grain, colour, and texture interact.
Fitted with custom hand-bent steel jump rings and suspended on a hand-tied, resizable 2mm Korean silk cord, each piece is designed to be worn daily or kept close as a personal reminder of faith and transformation.
No two crosses are ever identical. The natural variation of timber, combined with the pairing of contrasting woods, ensures every piece has its own identity and visual character.

A handcrafted elongated Coptic Orthodox necklace cross with curved ends and a refined, balanced form. The original design in the collection, finished by hand and suspended on an adjustable Korean silk rope for daily wear.
The Longinus the First Strung Cross is defined by its elongated form, curved ends, and balanced proportions.
Measuring 85mm × 40mm × 5mm, it is designed to sit naturally when worn, with a slimmer profile that gives it a quiet, refined presence. The softened curves at each end contrast with the clean structure of the body, creating a form that feels both traditional and personal.
It is the first design created and remains a personal favourite, worn daily as a constant reminder of faith and purpose. Its simplicity is intentional—stripped back to essential form, allowing the timber and shape to speak without distraction.
Each cross is individually cut, shaped, and finished by hand. The slight variations in curve, grain, and edge reflect the natural behaviour of the wood and the human process behind it, making every piece unique.
The cross is fitted with custom hand-bent steel jump rings and suspended on a hand-tied, resizable 2mm Korean silk cord, designed for comfortable daily wear.
Currently available in Rock Maple, African Wenge, and Western Australian Jarrah, with additional timber options to be introduced over time.

Handmade from solid Australian silky oak, this traditional Coptic Orthodox priest set requires many hours of careful craftsmanship to create—resulting in a unique piece designed to be treasured for generations.
The Kyrillos the Sixth Priest Set is a handmade Coptic Orthodox priest set crafted from solid Australian silky oak and designed in the traditional Coptic style. Featuring both rounded and pointed ends, this design reflects the rich artistic heritage of the Coptic Church while showcasing the natural beauty of the timber.
Each set includes a matching hand cross and chest cross, carefully shaped, sanded, and finished entirely by hand.
This is one of the more challenging designs to create. Every internal corner, point, and curve requires patience, precision, and countless hours of work. The process cannot be rushed. From cutting the intricate cross pattern to refining every detail by hand, each set passes through many stages before reaching its final form.
The chest cross is strung with Korean silk rope and fitted with custom hand-shaped steel jump rings, individually bent and formed to complement the design. These small details are often overlooked, yet they contribute significantly to the strength, appearance, and character of the finished piece.
No CNC machines. No mass production. No shortcuts.
Just timber, tools, and time.
Because every piece of silky oak has its own unique grain pattern, no two sets are ever exactly the same. The set you receive will be uniquely yours, bearing the natural character and beauty that only real timber can provide.
Whether intended for liturgical use, personal devotion, or as a gift for a beloved priest, this set is designed to be a lasting expression of faith—something to be carried, prayed with, and cherished for years to come.

Behind the Workshop
The vision? It’s fairly simple; crosses in as many hands, around as many necks and in as many homes as possible.
The cross is a symbol of Jesus Christ’s passion and victory; my passion is woodwork and specialty, crosses.
Please consider purchasing a cross for yourself, a family member, friend, priest or loved one; your support means I can make a living providing hand-made tools of prayer for everyone.
“Prayer can do all things, for it moves the Hand that manages the whole universe.”
- Saint Pope Kyrillos VI
